Roots crew is a ‘young’ sound system that was formed in 2000 on the island of Cyprus.

The idea for creating the sound system came from our attendance at the UK dub scene during the 90’s. The new breed of sound systems such us The Disciples, Aba Shanti, Iration Steppas and Jah Youth were just a few of the sound systems that influenced us at that time and gave us the urge to form our own ‘sound’.

On our arrival to Cyprus, the need for spreading the Reggae sound system culture, not only for recreation but also for its power of conscious messages, was vital to us.

After a few sessions that were held in small bars and at chill out rooms of rave parties,
we had the chance to link up with Haji Mike who supported our concept .

Since then we have been organizing our own sessions and continue to spread the reggae vibrations.
